SENIOR police inspector Ravindra Jaisinghrao Medsingh has been dismissed from service on charge of raping two women after ABI (Akela Bureau of Investigation) published several articles on him.
According to news Ravindra Medsingh was currently posted in Anti-Riots Control Squad, Naigaon. He was suspended and departmental enquiry (DE) was being conducted against him. He was found guilty and last month he was dismissed from service. ABI (abinet.org) is in possession of a copy of his dismissal order.
On April 25, 2014 ABI had published first article under headline, “Encounter king raped, married and divorced his informer.” On May 3, 2014, ABI published second article under headline, “Senior inspector Ravindra Medsingh raped me too.” On May 7, 2014 ABI published third article under headline, “Two rape FIRs registered against Inspector Medsingh.” On May 8, 2014 ABI published fourth articles under headline, “Inspector Medsingh’s son and wife also booked for rape.”
Ravindra Medsingh- who claimed he has killed 17 gangsters in encounter- was at that time attached to Local Arms-2 division, Tardeo, Mumbai police, and was suspended on May 7, 2014. The Azad Maidan and Dahisar police had filed first information reports (FIRs) against him.
First victim
The first victim (22-year-old) met him in February 2005 when Medsingh was posted in Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC), Bandra unit office. Medsingh befriended her and started raping her on routine basis promising her several times that he will marry her. He raped her in lodges in Dahisar (Samadhan Hotel), Malad Madh, Alibaugh, Pune, Aurangabad, Jammu and Kashmir, Airoli, Rabale, Taloja (Santosh Hotel), Masjid Bunder and inside car at Aarey Colony Jungle, Borivali National park and Kolhapur. Several times the patrolling police had caught them in Borivali national park and Aarey colony while they were having sex in the car. Every time police released them saying, “jaane do apne hi saheb hain.” During 2007 to 2010 Medsingh was posted in Kasturba Marg police station, Borivali (East). He was raping her daily in Kasturba Marg police station. One day as victim entered in police station then senior inspector requested her stating “madam thoda jaldi karna. DCP saheb ki visit hai.” She got pregnant more than 25 times. Medsingh would force her to abort the child everytime.
Second victim
The second victim is a Dahisar based woman whom Medsingh met in early 2003. He was posted at the Dahisar police station at that time, and a woman had approached him to file a complaint against her husband for domestic violence. On pretext of enquiry Medsingh befriended her and in March 2003, he allegedly raped her at gunpoint in a car inside the Sanjay Gandhi National Park .
