THE Oshiwara police in Andheri have arrested television (TV) actor Ahwaan Kumar alias Maneet Middha for allegedly raping and threatening to an actress. He was arrested on Monday evening and was produced in Metropolitan Court, Andheri on Tuesday, where judge remanded him in police custody till November 28.
31-year-old actress Kavita (name changed to protect identity) registered complaints twice (copy available with ABI) in Oshiwara police station earlier and on November 22, 2014 an FIR (copy available with ABI) was registered against Middha under Sections 376 (rape) and 507 (criminal intimidation through anonymous communication).
On November 11, 2014 ABI (abinet.org) has published an article under headline, “TV actor rapes actress, forces her to abort, later refuses marriage claiming that Janam-Kundli do not match.”
According to FIR Kavita says Middha had “lured” her into the relationship and promised to spend the rest of his life with her. He maintained steadily physical relationship since 2011 but later refused to marry claiming Janam-Kundli is not matching. Middha claimed he had affair with others named, Sonali Kulkarni and Seema Saini. So he can not marry her.
Kavita also claimed that she had conceived and was consequently hospitalised by Middha at Sangeeta Nursing Home in Andheri on February 12, 2012. Middha introduced himself as husband in hospital records and she was made to undergo an abortion.
Kavita’s father is a retired officer from a Central Investigative Agency.
