MAGAR HUM NAHIN SUDHRENGE: ON September 24, 2016, ABI (abinet.org) published an article under the headline “Navy Captain calls woman security guard ‘mast maal’, makes indecent proposal”. An inquiry is on in the matter. But S S Sandhu, DGM (L&W), has not learnt from his past mistakes. He has done it again, misbehaving, abusing and threatening Naval Dockyard supervisors under the influence of alcohol.

The incident took place on October 25 at zonal canteen premises of Naval Dockyard, Colaba. More than 150 supervisors and workers were having lunch. The lunch time is 12.30 pm to 1 pm. Around 12.15 pm Sandhu appeared there. He was fully drunk. He asked supervisors why they started lunch fifteen minutes early, and why they were eating so much and why so soon. He said that canteen facilities are not allowed for supervisors. He threatened to throw out the supervisors and close the canteen immediately. He abused the supervisors and threatened them that they should be ready to face action. The misbehavior of Sandhu hurt the supervisors. They reported the incident to B B Mohanty, General Secretary of the All India Naval Technical Supervisory Staff Association.

Mr B B Mohanty and other supervisors soon surrounded Mr. Sandhu and demanded medical test of Mr Sandhu as he was fully drunk. Captain Sandhu understood he will be in big trouble if ,medical test is done and he therefore pushed the supervisors and ran away in his car out of Naval Dockyard. He did not return to Naval Dockyard till GM (R) Commodore V. K. Lekhi intervened in the matter and pacified the supervisors.

Supervisors approached Rear Admiral Superintendent (VSM) Sanjeev Kale but he was not present in office. They have planned to complain to the city police but Commodore V. K. Lekhi strictly told them not to do so. Supervisors cancelled the plan to register an FIR with the city police after Lekhi assured them of action against Sandhu. Supervisors were demanding immediate medical tests on Sandhu as he was fully drunk but Navy management did not accept their demand.

One Supervisor on condition of anonymity said that a person who ran away on a mere mention of a medical test, that Sandhu may also run away from the Country during War.

The past acts of Sandhu

Earlier Sandhu described a woman security guard as “mast maal”. That time too Sandhu was under the influence of alcohol. He is also said to have ordered that she be brought before him in civilian dress. The security officer refused to obey his order and now an inquiry is on in the matter. The incident took place on September 10, 2016, at NCH Colony, Kanjur Marg (West), Mumbai.

As news published on ABI gets viral very soon, a frustrated Sandhu abused and threatened ABI in his own way and language. He even called ABI an ISI and Pakistani agent. He tried to present himself as a patriot but failed. See, now what he has done again.

When contacted, Captain S. S. Sandhu, ASD Sanjeev Kale and defense PRO Rahul Sinha failed to comment on the issue.

“The matter shall be investigated and dealt with in accordance with the law. Please be assured that the Indian Navy has zero tolerance to any such behaviour,” : Indian Navy

Seems to be a fabricated article. Clear case of an honest person doing his duty verbatim and then taken to task by these goons. Poor level of journalism. May be He had to run to save his life from mob mentality people. He should file an FIR against these people for threat to his life.

I think someone is using AIB to malign this officer’s image to settle some personal scores and this hardly known platform has made itself available to be used like this may be for money. Worst level of journalism.

Rajesh how do you know Mr. Akeld ND how do you know Mr. “DRUNKARD”. Don’t shoot casual statements just because you have personal issues to sort. With your comments it seems that Mr. Akela and Mr. Mishra are same person. and I am sure you must have served under him and the kind of strict disciplinarian employee that Mr. Sandhu seems to be going by the news article, you must had been admonished for your indiscipline or some other issues may be. But we are not one to comment. Remember the role of media is to report and not convey… Read more »

Again, allegations without proof. If they had “surrounded him” how did he manage to “run away” ? In this day of smartphones and cameras surprisingly nobody even got a peek, and you’re using stock photos to malign him ? It is clear that the colony mafia is doing all it can to unsettle Sandhu. And M Akela , either as part of the conspiracy or just sleazy journalism, is playing along , with catchy headlines and allegations being reported as fact.

Victimization of Civilian employees is very high in Naval organizations. Fat salaries, perks, glamour, five star facilities, fast track promotions etc. give immense power to Naval Officers. They wear the garb of saviours of nation and indulge in so much of non-sense. Government is least bothered about this and glorifies them. The problem of civilian harassment and bullying is more pronounced in units involved in Inspection activities under Navy, where Service Officers rule the roost. It is unfortunate that no government has taken seriously the recommendations of the V CPC that “all static, rear and administrative type of organizations have… Read more »
