THE Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Mumbai has arrested Deepak Kumar, the branch manager of State Bank of Hyderabad in Jalgaon for accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000.

According to CBI sources, CBI’s ACB wing, Mumbai had registered a case against the accused Deepak Kumar. Kumar is posted as the branch manager of State Bank of Hyderabad in Chopada, Jalgaon. The complainant approached the ACB alleging that the manager is asking for a bribe of Rs. 10,000 to clear the first installment of Rs. 3 Lakhs of his Housing loan.

On March 8, CBI arrested him while he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 /- from the complainant. The accused was produced before the Special Judge Jalgaon, who has remanded him to police custody till March 11.

The police conducted search operations at the residence and office of the accused and has seized the documents of the accused relating to investments made by him, Gold and Silver jewellery and coins and cash that were recovered during the search operations. The investigation is still on in this case.

PWD clerk arrested for accepting bribe

A clerk of the Public Works Department (PWD), Mumbai has been arrested on Monday by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Mumbai while accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a businessman.

The accused identified as Gyanoba Yashwant Patange. He works as senior clerk in PWD, Worli branch. The complainant has a room on his sister’s name. However, after his sister’s death he has applied to shift room on name of his niece.   The accused Patange allegedly demanded Rs 40,000 bribe to transfer the name.

On March 6 complainant had gone to deposit room’s rent. The accused Patange refused to deposit saying that room had been rented. Patange demanded Rs 4,000 to deposit the rent. On  March 7 complainant approached ACB and registered FIR against him. On March 10, while he was accepting Rs 4,000 ACB officials arrested him.
