THE Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday has arrested a General Manager (Excavation) Western Coalfield Limited, Padmapur (Maharashtra) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 3,000 from the Complainant.

The accused identified as S R Tewari.

A case was registered on June 5, 2014 against Tewari under sections 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on the basis of a complaint. The Complainant had alleged that the general manager demanded a bribe of Rs. 4,000 from him for passing his bills towards repairing of machine at WCL Padmapur area.

The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.3, 000 from the Complainant. Searches are being conducted at the premises of the accused.

The accused will be produced on Friday in the Special Court at Chandrapur, (Maharashtra).
