THE Dindoshi police have registered an offence on Wednesday against Congress MP Sanjay Nirupam, for allegedly abusing and damaging BJP Leader Vinod Shelar’s mobile phone at an event in Malad, Mumbai.

According to police the Congress party workers had organised a Foundation Stone Laying ceremony for a road in Malad, Dindoshi, where Sanjay Nirupam was the Chief Guest. Vinod Shelar, a BJP leader and local corporator appeared there stating that BJP had organised a similar program a few days back and Congress was unnecessarily trying to take credit of the developmental work. He also claimed that the model of code of conduct has been put to practice from today.

Both the leaders indulged in a heated argument which led to Nirupam allegedly snatching Shelar’s mobile phone and throwing it on the ground thinking that he was recording the conversation.

An officer from Dindoshi police station said; “On complaint of Shelar we have registered a non-cognisable offence against Sanjay Nirupam and the others under IPC sections 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of rs. 50) and 504 ( intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the IPC.”
