main tera hero - 2

WHEN we try to recall the comedy era of bollywood, first of all as an actor Govinda and as a director David Dhawan comes in mind. Last few recent movies of director David Dhawan really did not do well on box office but it seems that with the release of ‘Main Tera Hero’ he is again back in B-Town with his old comedy flavor. David has given many hit comedy movies like Coolie No.1, Hero No.1. Sajan Chale Sasural, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Raja Babu etc. This time he is directing his star son Varun Dhawan. It’s not the first time in the history of bollywood when a father is directing his star son. Raj Kapoor and Rakesh Roshan are the classic examples. History suggests that most of the director fathers are successful.

The story is about a young college boy Seenu (Varun Dhawan) who goes to Bangalore from his home town for studies where he falls in love with Sunaina (Ileana D’cruz). A ruthless cop Angad Negi (Arunoday Singh) loves Sunaina and wants to marry her forcefully without her parent’s consent. He sends some goons in the college to keep eyes on her. Despite of knowing the facts about her, Seenu tries to prove himself a hero in the college and proposes Sunaina that created trouble for him. Twist comes in the story when Sunaina is kidnapped by one of the biggest mafia don Vikrant (Anupam Kher) who is based in Bangkok (Thailand). In a small incident while Seenu going to Bangalore from his home town Coonoor, Vikrant’s daughter Ayesha (Nargis Fakhri) falls in love with him. On the other side Vikrant is connected with Angad in India. To get his love Sunaina, Seenu goes to Bangkok where he is asked forcefully to marry Ayesha. Seenu wants to buy time to make the situation in his favour and asked for 10 days time to marry her. Meanwhile Angad along with his friend Peter (Rajpal Yadav) joins Vikrant there. Through a conspiracy Seenu smartly brings Ayesha closer to Angad’s heart and made Sunaina free from there.

It seems that the story line is made in such a way so that Varun Dhawan can get several chances to give kissing scenes in the movie. Varun has performed well as a young daring boy who has no background of bhaigiri but dares to take any challenge. Sometimes it feels that he is over acting but due to comedy flavor in almost every scene audience enjoy it. The other artists like Shakti Kapoor and Rajpal Yadav have made their appearance felt.

As a villain Arunoday Singh, Anupam Kher and Saurabh Shukla has played vital role. Foreign locations are shown beautifully, Comedy in villainy is another important feature of director David Dhawan which can be seen in the movie. Audience enjoyed the song- tera dhiyan kidhar hai… tera hero idhar hai. Even another songs are pretty good. Dance steps and latke-jhatke really attracts the audience well in the theatre.

Actresses Ileana D’crus and Nargis Fakhri have tried to justify their roles but Varun Dhawan is always the centre of attraction in the movie. Most of the time Varun is taken into centres stage and almost in every scene he is covered. Even Ileana gets enough screen space. Shakti Kapoor has a small role who always uses bollywood movie titles in his conversation on the other hand Saurabh Shukla discuss the things in sher-o-shayari style. Anupam Kher has even his own style.

The film is full of entertainment and we can say it’s a paisa wasool movie. It refreshes the mind and audience will come out of theatre with a happy mood. Finally we can say that David is back with his old comic avatar.
