A 19-year-old Delhi based college student has been arrested by Mumbai police for allegedly sending obscene pictures to a woman in Dadar in Mumbai through mobile messenger. The accused also created her fake profile on a social networking site and chats with her friends.

The accused identified as Aniket Prabhakar Dutta. He is a class XII student in New Delhi College. He was arrested on May 19 from Dadar (west).

Dutta came in touch few years back with his childhood school friend through social networking site. His 18-year-old friend is a student in a renowned catering college and she is the complainant woman’s roommate in the Dadar flat. The complainant is also in the same catering college.

The accused earlier had introduced himself student of Air Force. Dutta suspects that the complainant instigated to his friend against him. Thus he started sending her abusive messages since October 2013 on her cell phone.

According to Dadar police when the complainant changed her cell number Dutta created her fake profile on social networking site using her pictures and started chatting with her friends. He also sent obscene pictures to the complainant.

Fed up with the harassment the woman approached to the cyber and Dadar police.

“We have booked Dutta under sections 292A (printing etc. of grossly indecent or scurrilous matter or matter intended for blackmail), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of Indian Penal Code and 66A (sending offensive messages through communication service, etc) and 67A (publishing or transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act, etc. in electronic form) of Information Technology Act,” said a police officer from Dadar police station.
