The Government Railway Police(GRP), Kalyan have booked a Conductor (Air Conditioned Coach Ticket Checker) for allegedly molesting a female passenger in a long route train. This incident occurred on Friday and it was transferred to Igatpuri GRP as it falls under their jurisdiction.
The police identified the accused conductor as P E Kharve. The female passenger (Complainant) is a resident of Kalyan and a native of Chalisgaon boarded the Kamayani Express from Chalisgaon for Kalyan claiming that she entered the S – 8 coach as the general coach gets emptied and she was a little afraid of traveling in the compartment. As Manmad passed, Kharve the on-duty Conductor started checking tickets and asked the lady to pay the fine or change the coach but she refused to do so. This conversation later led to a heated argument between the two.
“Tere baap ki train hai kya? Ghoomne ka itna hi shauk hai toh chal Kurla tak ghuma lata hoon”, these were the words used by Kharve for the lady during their heated argument. The lady claimed that Kharve forcefully held her hands and threw her twice in another coach and after reaching Kalyan she registered an FIR against Kharve in the Kalyan GRP.
Sampat Nirmal the Inspector at Kalyan GRP said; ” We have booked Kharve under sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of IPC. As the place of offence was Igatpuri we have transferred the matter to Igatpuri for further investigation and action”.
In a conversation with ABI the conductor explained his part as; “Lots of passengers forcibly entered in A-1, A-2 and B-2 coaches. Reserved passengers complained to me about their nuisance. I was requesting the passengers to vacate (empty) the coach and this lady was also among them. She refused to pay the fine or change the coach claiming her husband is crime branch officer. Seeing her behavior other passengers refused to do the same and follow my instructions. The lady called her husband who claimed to me that he is crime branch officer. But refused to disclose his name stating “mera koi naam nahin hai.” He threatened that he will give me Chai-Paani at Kalyan. At around 11.20 pm train arrived at Kalyan, three people including her husband held me. In presence of RPF Jawan they abused and threatened me for dire consequences. They even snatched my batch away. They clicked my photographs threatening that they will kidnap me from my residence. I have already informed my Controller about the incidents.”
