CHANDRAKANT Puri an Inspector attached to Parksite police station, Vikroli (west) dose not pay heed to the Senior Inspector S S Sakpal. Even Sakpal himself says that he is helpless and Puri is not under his control.
On August 19, 2014 a person named Nitin Madhukar Shinde had complained (copy available with ABI) to Maharashtra Human Rights Commission, Mumbai, Commissioner of Police Rakesh Maria, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ramdas Gaikwad and also in Parksite police station against Puri. Shinde wants to know that why Puri picked them up and put them behind bars for 13 hours.
According to the complaint, Shinde a resident of Anand Chawl, Suryanagar, Vikroli (West) is Supervisor in Otis Authorised Agency (having office at Grant Road) and active worker of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
On August 15, at around 10pm Shinde was having dinner with his friends at neighbouring friends home. At that time two constables from Parksite police station appeared there and asked them to visit the police station as Chandrakant Puri had called them. Shinde alongwith his three friends went to the police station. Without telling anything to them Puri ordered to lodge them in lock up. A little later Puri went in the lock up and abused them a lot without a valid reason. He ordered to keep them in lock up till morning.
Next day, on August 16, at around 10am Puri appeared there and again abused them. Around 11am Puri removed them from lock up. He released them after one more time abusing.
“I don’t know why we were arrested. Lodged in lock up. Why Puri abused us in filthy languages. My other friends are in mental trauma. I have complained against Puri to several top authorities,” said Shinde.
As they realised about complained to Commissioner of Police Rakesh Maria and fearing for any action Senior Inspector S S Sakpal and ACP Gaikwad called NCP’s vice president Sudhir Singh in police station. They asked to settle the matter. They requested to withdraw the complaint. When Sudhir Singh asked them that what was the reason that Shinde and his associates were picked up and lodged in lock up, both the officers Sakpal and Gaikwad had no answers to it. In-turn Sakpal told that Puri is not in his control. Puri always acts like this. Please pardon him.
‘Puri mere control me nahin hai. Wo apne mann ki karta rahta hai. Us se public hi nahin police station bhi pareshan hai. Lekin iss baar use maaf kar do. Uss par action hoga to senior hone ki vajah se mujh par bhi ho jayega,” Sakpal said to Sudhir Singh.
However Sudhir Singh refused to withdraw the complaint. “I refused to withdraw the complaint. I will meet the Home Minister R R Patil soon and will complaint against Puri and as well as Sakpal,” said Sudhir Singh.
“If Sakpal is not able to handle his staff then how he will handle law and order situation in city,” added Sudhir Singh.
ABI is in possession of several complaints against Puri. Will publish it in time.
“Puri has adopted a modus operandy. He terrorises poor people like hawkers, vegetable vendors and auto-rickshaw drivers only. He extorts money from them. He feels these people will never complaint against him.
When ABI contacted Sakpal (acting like this that he is not aware about complaint) said, “Which complaint. Who had complained? Let me check.”
“I am sleeping. Call me later,” said Puri.

I m sorry say bt m not agreed with the statement. Because as a resident of ghatkopar I hv notice that since Mr.chandrakant puri has taken charge at park site police station the crime rate in ghatkopar has gone down. And sum times to maintain the law n order in the city police officer has to be rash. But this has only effected criminals. And as we know today there is no bigger criminal then politicians. You can’t keep someone in jail for 12-13 hours without any reason. Mr Puri have to answer. Why you kept the victim in custody for 13 hours ?
I don’t understand why the policeman are behaving like mad, the police officer has to be suspend immediately n the enquiry has to be done as soon as this people are filled the case to the other people’s.
