THE special investigation team (SIT) police on Monday arrested Harminder Singh alias Mintoo from a railway station at New Delhi. The self-styled chief of Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) had escaped with six others aides from Nabha jail in Punjab.
On Sunday evening, the Uttar Pradesh police arrested mastermind Parminder Singh who ‘masterminded’ the jailbreak from Shamli district. Five other escaped convicts remain missing.
Mintoo and the others made their escape when a group of armed men in police uniforms stormed Punjab’s Nabha Central Jail early on Sunday. The armed men showed up at the main gate of the jail on the Nabha-Channo road at 8.56 am and exited with the inmates at 9.04 am.
Earlier, Mintoo was arrested by Punjab Police in November 2014 from Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi when he arrived from Thailand. 49-year-old Mintoo repeatedly attempting to kill Punjab-based Hindu leaders, and was also wanted in 10 cases registered in Punjab.
