THE Gurunanak Khalsa College, Matunga Principal Ajitsingh Amarsingh Thethi and his personal assistant (PA) Nikita Hetan Ved have been remanded in police custody till May 11. The accused were arrested for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000 by Anti – Corruption Bureau (ACB), Mumbai, on May 8.

On Friday, ACB officials raided at residence of Ved. They found documents of investments of Rs 10, 25,000 from HDFC bank and Post office. In similar case officials recovered Rs 4, 04, 980 cash from Tethi’s residence. They were produced in Sessions Court, Mumbai where court remanded them in police custody till May 11.

The complainant visited Khalsa College as he wished to take admission for his daughter in the 12th std of Science stream on May 6, 2014 and met Ved. She allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs. 30,000 for herself and the principal. The complainant approached ACB, Mumbai, as he had no intentions of submitting to the demands of the two he registered a complaint against them.

The ACB investigated the matter. The complainant met Ved as per the directions of ACB in the college. In the meeting Ved agreed on the bribe of Rs. 25,000 to be given to her and Sethi the principal of the college and she also mentioned no receipt for this payment will be given to the complainant.

On May 8, 2014 the ACB set a trap at in the college premises of Gurunanak Khalsa College and arrested Ved along with the Sethi accepting the bribe amount of Rs. 25,000.
