ROHIT Sharma, the Indian batsman, on his way to 264 against Sri Lanka on Thursday at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the 27-year-old blazed nine sixes and 33 fours from 173 deliveries. Sharma has become the first player to hit 250 in a one-day international. His score raced past the previous best of 219 that his compatriot Virender Sehwag set against West Indies in 2011.
His first 209 came against Australia in Bangalore on November 3, 2013. Rohit survived an early dropped chance when he was on 4 and capitalised well to make his way into the record books. He reached the 200-run mark off 151 balls.
