A 26-year-old woman has filed a case of rape against a man for raping her, on the pretext of marriage in Ulhasnagar, on Thursday. Interestingly, the victim and accused are lawyer by profession and practicing in Ulhasnagar court.
According to police accused lawyer identified as Ricky Chhabria (28). The victim Poonam (not real name) is also lawyer. She is resident of Ulhasnagar-1. Both, victim and accused, before practicing separately were junior of a veteran lawyer. They met each-other in office of lawyer. Chhabria allegedly promised to marry her and raped her. On January 12, 2013 he raped Poonam first time at her residence. After that he repeatedly raped her on several occasions.
But since January this year his behavior changed. He started ignoring her and refused to marry her. Chhabria began threatening her to lay off and not to disclose their affair to anyone, saying he would tarnish her image in her society.
On Thursday Poonam registered FIR against Chhabria in Ulhasnagar-1 police station.
“I registered FIR against Chhabria. He is absconding,” said Poonam. Chhabria was not available for comment as his mobile phone was continuing switched off.
“A case under section 376 (rape) have been registered against Chhabria. He has not been arrested yet, but we will get him soon,” said a police officer from Ulhasnaagr-1 police station.
