RAJKUMAR Bharati, a police informer has complained against Anil Powar, senior inspector with Mahatma Fule Chowk (MFC) police station in Kalyan (West). Bharati alleged that Powar warned him against staying in Kalyan city area else he will be killed. Powar is angry with Bharati after a murder accused was arrested in which Bharati is eye witness.

The 36-year-old Bharati is native of Bihar and lives somewhere in Thane district. Earlier he was residing in Igatpuri and was selling cutlery items from Igatpuri to Thane in long route trains. His ‘life-train’ derailed from track on March 16, 2015 when more than 15 persons (Mobin Shaikh, Alim Shaikh, Raja Dhamne, Munna Shaikh, Yogesh Gaikwad, Gorakh Masne, Bharat Masne and others) hailing from Manmad, Nashik and Igatpuri kidnapped him from Igatpuri. He was beaten mercilessly. The kidnappers were asking about hideout of a person David Patrick Manuel.

A resident of Gaikwadnagar in Igatpuri David was also selling cutlery in mail train but had bad record. David had attacked on local goon Alim Shaikh in Igatpuri market few days before. Rajkumar Bharati was David’s friend.

Helpless Bharati took them on same day at Kalyan where more than 12 persons attacked on David Manual and roommate Padmakar Shrirane. David died on the spot and Padmakar died before admission in hospital. Bharati managed to escape from the spot. He rushed to MFC police station. Bharati alleged that on duty police officer handcuffef him and lodged in lock up claiming he has killed David and Kamlakar. After an hour police went on spot and did formalities.

Since then Bharati started living on MFC police station premises. He was working for all police officials only. All things were well till Anil Powar was appointed as Senior Inspector of MFC police station on February 28, 2016. Powar immediately ordered Bharati to leave not only police station premises also Kalyan city. Powar also told him that he will be arrested soon by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB). Surprisingly, on May 26, 2016 ACB arrested Bharati on charge of taking bribe. After spending three days in ACB custody he was released.

More shockingly, when Bharati was in ACB custody on May 27, 2016 Powar called Bharati in his cabin. Powar warned him to leave Kalyan city area else he will be killed. “Powar ne kaha ki wo log (Mobin Shaikh gang) bahut khatarnak hain. Tum Kalyan area chhodkar bhag jao nahin to tumhara murder sure hai. Tum mujhse writing me le lo ek din tumhara murder hoga,” said Bharati.

Bharati alleged Powar got angry with him after arrest of Mobin Shaikh by Kalyan crime branch. Mobin Shaikh is main accused in David murder case. Mobin is a resident of Igatpuri and earlier Powar was posted in Nashik. He was arrested on May 23, 2016.

Bharati has complained in writing against Powar to several authorities demanding his protection and also action on Powar.

“When Dinesh Katke and Dattatraya Pandhre were senior inspectors of MFC police station nothing was wrong with me. As Powar took charge he booted me out from police station and threatened me,” said Bharati.
