A 29-year old principal (Maulana) of a Madarasa has been arrested by the Wadala Truck Terminal (WTT) police for allegedly molesting five students, including a 15-year old girl, of the Madarasa. Police is also searching for a teacher of the school in to the same offence.

Arrested accused was identified as Abarar-Ul-Haq. On Sunday he was produced in special holiday court where he was remanded in police custody till March 7.

Haq is working as principal in Bilauli mosque in Shanti Nagar, Wadala (east) since two and half years. Haq, who is native of Banaras in Uttar Pradesh stays in Madarasa.

According to police, Irfan (full name not known) wanted accused in the matter, few months back had allegedly asked a 15-year old girl in the Madarasa to cook food for teachers. When she went in kitchen he allegedly touched her inappropriately and kissed her. Haq neglected Irfan’s acts and indirectly supported him. He would often use vulgar language on girls. “At least five girls have complained saying Haq always would speak vulgarly with them,” said Suhas Garud, senior inspector of the WTT police station.

The accused were allegedly molesting the girls since January 2013. Irfan had been sacked from the Madarasa around five months ago following similar complaints against him. However, Haq was continuing toabuse girls. The girls had earlier complained to the administration of the Madarsa, but no action was taken against them.

The accused has been booked under sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code and 8 (sexual assault) and 12 (sexual harassment upon a child shall) of Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act.
