PRIME MINISTER Narendra Modi on Thursday addresses a mega rally in the poll-bound Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra. Attacking the Himachal government, Modi said that Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh is embroiled in corruption yet the party in manifesto says there will be zero tolerance of corruption. “Even a child won’t believe it,” he added.

He termed Congress a ‘laughing club’ and that it needs to “introspect why people are turning away from them across the country. Without mentioning Rahul Gandhi’s name, PM Modi slammed the Congress VP for not raising questions on the role of the Army in the Doklam issue. “Instead of asking Indian diplomats and foreign ministry, you go and ask Chinese envoy. Sorry to say this shows lack of primary understanding,” he said.

Former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal will be leading the BJP campaign in the upcoming Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections, party national president Amit Shah said on Tuesday. Dhumal has held the post in the state twice before, from March 1998 to March 2003 and from January 2008 to December 2012.

Last week, when Finance Minister Arun Jaitley released the party’s election manifesto, he had said, “One of our very experienced leaders will be the chief ministerial candidate”. Jaitley, however, did not say whether the party will announce a candidate or decide after the polls, calling it a “matter of strategy”.

The polling of the 68-member Himachal Pradesh Assembly is on November 9 and the results will be declared on December 18.
