The anti extortion cell (AEC) of Mumbai police have arrested two members of Ravi Pujari gang with one sophisticated carbine machinegun, three magazine, thirteen live cartridges and one pistol of 7.65 mm. These weapons are usually being used by armed forces.

Addressing to media persons on Monday, joint commissioner of police (crime) Sadanand Date told that accused identified as Deepak Yeshwant Padwal (27) and Amol Anil Sawant (29). The both Padwal and Sawant were on Monday produced before a court which remanded them in police custody till April 25.

The two were working as bouncers at a popular night club in a five-star hotel in suburban Mumbai.

The AEC officials had got a tip-off that Ravi Pujari gang members were coming to deliver firearms to their aide in Kandivali. The officials laid a trap on Sunday evening and arrested Padwal and Sawant while they were moving suspiciously in the area.

According to police sources, the two were given these firearms by their associate Kamal Singh Rajput (32). Rajput was also a bouncer in the same night club. The Mangalore police had arrested Rajput last week in connection with a firing case in their jurisdiction.

Rajput’s one more colleague Dattatray Waghare had been also arrested by Mangalore police from Mumbai.
