THE Nagpada police station records claims that the Mumbai based journalist Shahid Ansari was booked on instructions of Additional Commissioner Of Police (Central Region) R.D.Shinde. According to news, Nagpada, Mumbra and Nashik police have registered FIRs against Shahid Ansari under sections 295 (A), 500, 501, 504, 34, 153 (A) and 120 (B) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Shahid Ansari published an article on his news portal ‘Bombayleaks’ against the so-called Muslim leader Moinuddin Ashraf Sayyed alias Moin Miyan alias Baba Bangali. For the uninitiated, Moin Miyan had formed a committee in which his relatives were the members and were trying to usurp a plot measuring 17,779 square yards worth a staggering Rs. 250 crore. The said plot is located in Nagpada, South Mumbai. One of the Moin’s gang members was identified as Maqsood Ahmed Nathani. The Wakf Board has given a stay on the matter.

After publishing the aforementioned news, one of the Moin Miyan’s punter Fahad Niyazi submitted an application demanding FIR to be registered against Shahid Ansari. Assistant Police Inspector (API) Suhas Mane was appointed to investigate the case. Mane assured Niyazi that he will surely take action on Ansari, if he will be found guilty. But, Moin Miyan was in such a tearing hurry, that, he then, approached the Additional Commissioner of Police R.D. Shinde. Shinde, then, ordered Assistant Commissioner Of Police (ACP) Nagesh Jadhav to register a FIR against Ansari. Nagesh Jadhav, then, rushed to Nagpada police station and asked Inspector Suhas Mane to register a FIR. Not enough, R.D. Shinde himself called Inspector Suhas Mane to register a FIR against Ansari. Left with no option, Inspector Suhas Mane, then, registered a FIR. But, he maintained the police station diary and noted down that he registered FIR after R.D. Shinde forced to him. A copy of police station diary is available with ABI (abinet.org). Inspector Mane also reported ACP, Senior Police Inspector and also the Duty Officer that he had recorded the incident in police station diary.

Shahid Ansari, then, approached Bombay Sessions Court seeking anticipatory bail (ABA). He produced the police station diary. Quoting Supreme Court’s directive, Sessions court asked Nagpada police there is no need to arrest Shahid Ansari in the matter.

“I am shocked that Joint Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Deven Bharti alias Chhota Recharge and the Additional Commissioner of Police R. D. Shinde are hand in glove with Moin Miyan. I am also shocked that a small time Baba Bangali Moin Miyan is so much powerful that Bharti and Shinde are following his instructions. My exposure of Moin Miyan will be continue,” said Shahid Ansari.

Additional Police Commissioner R D Shinde was not available for comment.
