Dyaneshwar Gawade

THE Shiv Sena MP Rajan Vichare allegedly force-feeded Roti in mouth of a Muslim man who is undergoing Roza in month of Ramjan. However, both the Parliaments disrupted on Wednesday over the issue and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Prakash Javadekar assured that government will probe the facts.

48-year-old Vichare on Thursday was seen shoving a roti into the mouth of Arshad Zubair in Maharashtra sadan.

Arshad Zuber is catering supervisor at the Maharashtra government’s official guest house in New Delhi.

The incident has sparked nationwide outrage and calls for action against Vichare.

Lok Sabha was adjourned and also in the Rajya Sabha, opposition members forced Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurien to adjourn the house for 10 minutes.

Ali Anwar Ansari of the Janata Dal-United said, “It is an insult to Indian culture and social tolerance.”

Vichare Speaks

Elected for the first time in the recent Lok Sabha election from Thane in Maharashtra Vichare told media that he was only protesting against the poor quality of food. We were served “fake mineral water” and “unhygienic food”. I had no idea that he was a Muslim or he was observing roza. I only asked the man to try the roti himself.”
