SENIOR police inspector Dastgeer A Mulla attached to Mahim police station was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Mumbai for allegedly demanding and accepting Rs. 10,000 bribe from a female complainant.

On Friday ACB officials arrested Mulla from his cabin in Mahim police station.

According to ACB officials the complainant is woman. She rented a room for five years. She was living in room. Recently, the room owner asked to vacate the room. The lady refused to vacate the room reminding him that agreement is for five years. No option, the room owner approached Mahim police station and gave an application against woman. On basis of complaint, Dastgeer Mulla called the woman in police station and forced her to vacate the room neither he will take action. Mulla also demanded Rs. 10,000 to settle the dispute and not take action against her.

Woman approached ACB official and registered complaint against Mulla. After verification ACB officials laid a trap and arrested Mulla while accepting a bribe of Rs.10, 000.

Mulla has been charged under sections 7, 13 (1) (D) with 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act-1988.

On Saturday ACB officials carried out a search at the residence of Mulla. He is resident of A-3/1, government quarters at Kherwadi, Bandra (East).

The ACB recovered Rs.30,000 cash, 10 tolas of gold, papers of two flats (550 Sq fit and 600 Sq fit) in Nalasopara and Mira Road, passbooks of three banks- State Bank of India, Saraswat Bank and Axis Bank and share certificate of Birla company. Sources also revealed that Mulla recently purchased a flat in Mahim valued Rs. 80 lakh.
