A school that is called as VIDYA KA MANDIR has openly allowed suspected prostitution in its premises by renting its first floor to a lodging and boarding.

The school St Mary’s Malankara High School is located at Pereira Wadi in Sakinaka. It has rented its first floor to Galaxy Residency lodging and boarding.Sources said the school charge Rs 2 lakh per month from lodge as rent. The lodge is on first floor and school is on ground floor. The customers frequently come and go in lodge throughout the day. There is no gate in school.

Vishal Suresh Khatedar, who stays in the school vicinity, has raised voice against the school’s move to rent its floor. He demanded information through Right To Information (RTI) Act from education department if BMC has permitted the school to run lodging boarding in its premises. BMC sent him a roly poly answer. Now Khatedar has first appealed against BMC’s irresponsible answer.

“This is much shocking that school rented lodge in school premises. The residents near the school are fed up with lodge customers. They create nuisance in area,” said Khatedar.

When Khatedar filed RTI about lodge permission one of the school’s trustees Koshi Varghese called him in school. Koshi said to Khatedar that he was unnecessarily losing energy. Nothing will happen.

“It is shocking that how Koshi came to know that I had filed RTI. Koshi called me and offered to sell my home to him and leave school premises. He also suggested me to don’t do anything. Nothing will happen,” said Khatedar.

“If someone complaint about prostitution in lodging Sakinaka police visits the lodge. Took bribe and leave the area,” said a resident on condition of anonymity.
