RELIGIOUS leader Swami Aseemanand has been found not guilty of any link to a bombing at the famous Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti Dargah in Rajasthan’s Ajmer in 2007. The special court has convicted three others accused in the case.

Magistrate Dinesh Gupta, had in February this year, adjourned the hearing as the court needed more time to study all documents submitted by the prosecution and the defence. The case was handed over to ATS Rajasthan and was later transferred to NIA which re-registered the case with the NIA police station in New Delhi on April 6, 2011.

Three people were killed and almost 20 were injured in the powerful blast at the Dargah on October 11, 2007. The investigation was handed over in 2011 to the NIA which handles terror cases. The NIA had in a chargesheet accused Swami Aseemanand, 78, of masterminding the attack.

The charges against him and six others had included murder, conspiracy, planting and exploding bombs and spreading hatred.
