AN Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and a Police Inspector-both posted in Mumbai- started feeling stomachache soon after the Thane police arrested top Hawala operator and bookie Alpesh Patel alias RBI. Both the officers reportedly tried to SAVE Alpesh Patel from any stringent action.

Last month, Anti Extortion Cell (AEC) of Thane police -headed by encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma- arrested Alpesh Patel. Later, he was granted bail by Bombay High Court. The betting business had come to a halt for 15 days after his arrest.

Who is Alpesh Patel?
The 42-year-old Alpesh Bhagwandas Patel, resident of Gulalwadi, Bhuleshwar in South Mumbai is a one of the top hawala operators who is called as RBI (Reserve Bank of India) by the bookies. He runs ANGADIA Company named Patel S. Babulal. All the bookies deposit their money with Patel. If a bookie loses money in betting he withdraws money from Patel and if he wins he deposits it with Patel. Patel is also known for transferring money through hawala from India to Dubai, Dubai to India as well as other states in the country.

During interrogation by Thane AEC Alpesh Patel disclosed that he worked for 109 bookies all over India. Few top bookies are Jayanti Malad, Devendra Kothari, Sonu Jalan, J K Arora, Bimal Aggarwal, Mukesh Agrawal alias Dilli, Sodhi Dilli, Sonu Dilli, Tinku Dilli, Bharat Dilli, Pawan Jaipur, Sanjay Jaipur, Mittal Jaipur, Kishor Soni alias Pluto, Junior Culcutta, Govind Culcutta, Tinku Rajasthan, Adarsh Culcutta, Kehsu Pune, Sunil Alamchandani alias Dubai, Jeetu Dubai, J.K. Ahmedabadi, Balaji Madras and Giridhari Jawaharani.

Patel used to get commission between 0.25 percent to 0.50 percent on all the money transactions he made.

He was arrested in 2013 by Mumbai crime branch into the IPL spot fixing scam, along with Vindoo Dara Singh and Prem Taneja. Police also had seized Rs.12.80 million in cash from his residence. He was also arrested in Delhi once.

Sources said an Inspector posted in a Mumbai suburban police station tried to influence AEC after Patiel’s arrest. He made calls to several persons who are closed to the encounter specialist requesting “Alpesh Patel ko maaf kar do” but failed.

There is a reason that why this inspector got stomachache after arrest of Alpesh Patel. This inspector had arrested Alpesh Patel when he was in crime branch. During his custody the inspector befriended with Patel and later become PARTNER in his betting/hawala business. Not only this,  an IPS officer of IG rank posted in Mumbai police headquarters also felt uneasy after arrest of Alpesh Patel. This officer became NERVOUS because a person Habib Farooqui disappeared from Mumbai after arrest of Patel. A resident of Indore in Madhya Pradesh Farooqui allegedly manages black money of this IPS officer. Farooqui is reportedly hiding in Delhi at present.
