TV actor rapes actress, forces her to abort, later refuses marriage claiming that Janam-Kundli do not match

A television actress approached the Oshiwara police station, Andheri twice alleging that she was raped by her co-actor Ahwaan Kumar alias Maneet Middha. On pretext of marrying her, Middha allegedly raped actress on several occasions, aborted a baby, but refused to marry her stating their ‘Janam-Kundali’ was not matching.

31-year-old actress Kavita (name changed to protect identity) registered complaints twice (copy available with ABI) against Middha at the Oshiwara police station.

According to Kavita, she and Middha had met on the set of a famous television serial in 2011. After meeting on several occasions they came much closed to each-other. One day Middha proposed her saying that he had fallen in love with her. He wants to marry her. Kavita normally refused his proposal saying her parents would not allow their marriage. Kavita’s father is a retired officer from a Central Investigative Agency. Middha continued forcing her saying – “main aur logon ki tarah nahin hu. Main tumhara zindagi bhar saath dunga.”

Later Kavita and Middha came very close to each-other. One day Middha called her at his home saying his parents were out of city. Middha raped Kavita first time at his home in 2011. Since then he was raping Kavita continuously at his home, hotels and also Kavita’s home.

In 2012, Kavita came to know that Middha had affairs with other girls.

“Production staff told me that Middha had affair with another girl. I was shocked. I asked him what truth is. Middha replied negative saying nothing,” said Kavita.

Kavita got pregnant. She forced Middha to marry her but he strictly refused. Middha forced her to abort the child. Kavita was planning to commit suicide but parents and her close friends asked her to do not do so. Kavita bought abortion pill (cost Rs 12,000) from a Ghatkopar medical store but was unsuccessful. On February 12, 2012 Middha admitted her at Sangeeta Nursing home, Andheri, where she underwent the abortion. Middha registered his name as husband in hospital records. After being discharged from hospital Middha threw the hospital file in nullah saying that was useless. Actually he destroyed the evidence that could prove him as her husband.

Kavita was continuously forcing him to marry. Middha was ignoring her proposal. Atlast Middha went at his native place Gangapur in Rajasthan. He told Kavita from there that he cannot marry her because their Janam-Kundali was not matching. Kavita suggested him to forget Janam- Kundali and marry with “Gandharv Vivah (based on mutual attraction between a man and a woman, with no rituals, witnesses or family participation).”

Middha was not ready to marry her. Middha always insulted, tortured her. He suggested her to forget everything as accident. “Life me accident to hote hi rahte hain,” Middha said to Kavita.

At last Kavita’s father spoke to Middha. Middha insulted him as well, saying that if he has affair with 10 girls, he cannot marry to all of them. He told her parents that he had affair with others named, Sonali Kulkarni and Seema Saini. So he can not marry their daughter.

“Middha ne mere parents to bataya ki uska affair kinhi do actresses-Sonali Kulkarni aur Seema Saini-se chal raha hai. Isliye woh mujhse marriage nahin kar sakta,” said Kavita. We (Kavita-ABI) don’t know who are Sonali Kulkarni and Seema Saini.

Kavita’s parents told ABI (abinet.org) that Middha was regularly having dinner in their home. They remembered that Middha had told that he was like their family member and that he should marry Kavita. Shameless Middha told them that this is true he had eaten regularly but he will send sack of wheat.

“Middha ne mujhse kaha ki ye baat sahi hai ki maine aapke yahaan regular khana khaya hai, lekin chinta mat karo, uske badle main ek bori gehun bhej dunga,” said Kavita’s mother.

Kavita continued requesting for marriage. One day he told her that there are psychological problems in her family. All her family members are mad. So he can not marry her.

Fed up Kavita approached Oshiwara police station to register rape and cheating FIR against Middha, but both times police registered only NC. Surprisingly, on September 29, 2014 police picked up Middha and put him in the lock up. Police called Kavita’s family and showed that Middha has been arrested. As Kavita’s family came out, police released Middha.

“Earlier, we took action on Middha. Now she (Kavita) has no fresh complaint,” said Shivaji Pugle, investigation officer.

With this attitude of Oshiwara police, Middha became more arrogant. He started threatening and abusing them. He even threatened Kavita’s close friend. On one occasion a police officer told Kavita’s mother that Middha knows him. He will ask him to stop harassing them.

“There is no such matter like this. I am star and people speak about me. There is no police complaint against me. I am busy in shooting,” said Middha.

Note: After ABI’s conversation with Middha, he called Kavita and threatened her saying he will file Rs 10, 00,000 defamation suit if ABI (Akela Bureau of Investigation) publishes the story against him.
