VETERAN vocalist Pandit Jasraj visited the Mumbai Press Club (MPC) on Wednesday . The octogenarian exponent, who belongs to the Mewati gharana of Hindustani classical music, was felicitated by MPC Secretary Dharmendra Jore and Treasurer Om Prakash Tiwari.

Jasraj was born in Village Pili Mandori in erstwhile Hisar district of Haryana (now Fatehabad district) in a middle-class family to Motiram, a classical singer, on 28 January 1930.

During the interaction, Pandit ji shared several anecdotes, classical music and media and also briefed about “Concert 8 Prahar”, unique Indian classical day-night music event to be held on January 14 and 15, 2017 at the Shanmukhananda Hall, Sion, Mumbai. Pandit ji was accompanied by his daughter, Durga Jasraj and Shashi Vyas.
