The survivor was shifted to Lucknow and her condition is said to be critical.

JUST a week after the brutal rape and murder of a veterinarian in Hyderabad, a rape survivor was set ablaze in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao allegedly by the man who is accused of raping her, along with four others. All five have been arrested.

The incident took place on Thursday morning when the accused, out on bail, attempted to burn the woman by dousing her with kerosene more than a kilometre away from her home on a deserted road. She was on her way to Rai Bareilly for the hearing in the rape case when the men attacked her. She was reportedly alone at the time of the incident.

The accused did not go into hiding after committing the crime and were arrested from their respective homes, sources said.

The woman was shifted to Lucknow’s KGMU hospital with 90% burns. She has now been shifted to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital for treatment as her condition is said to be critical, as reported in News18.com.

She was allegedly raped few months ago and had filed a complaint in March this year, the police said.

The woman and one of the prime accused in the case had reportedly married last year against the wishes of their families. The couple separated after the families did not approve of their relation.
