AFTER peaceful protests at the August Kranti Maidan, several thousand Mumbaikars participated in a march in Dharavi to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and Delhi police’s action against Jamia Millia Islamia students.

The march against the recently-passed Citizen Amendment Bill was held on 90-feet road in Dharavi. Participants were seen holding placards against CAA and the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

A similar protest was held in Malvani, Malad where people voiced their opinions about CAA and alongside, shouted slogans in favour of Mumbai Police who had ensured that the rally against CAA and NRC went off without any untoward incident on Thursday at August Kranti Maidan near Grant Road station.

On the other hand, several people came out in support of CAA in Ghatkopar, a BJP stronghold in Mumbai, in a pro-CAA rally. The participants were seen hailing the Narendra Modi government for the Act.

Over the last few days, there has been an uproar regarding the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act and protests in favour and against the bill are being organised across the country. Section 144 has been imposed in parts of North-East, Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi and Bengaluru. In addition to this, internet services too have been suspended in parts of the country.
