beating-retreat-and-tattoo-ceremony

AS part of Navy Day, the traditional ‘Beating Retreat’ ceremony is organised by INS Shikra under the aegis of Western Naval Command scheduled from 02 to 04 Dec 2016 at the Gateway of India. Parts of the ceremony and demo are especially conducted in a way so that people can witness these along the coast at PJ Ramchandani Marg, between Radio Club and Gateway of India, from 4:45 PM to 6:45 PM. Warship ships at anchorage will be illuminated thereafter and will be visible till midnight.

During this event, various activities are conducted around the Gateway of India which includes helicopter operations, operational demo by Marine Commandos, marching and other drill, hornpipe dance by Sea Cadet Corps and performance by Naval Band.

In view of large crowds witnessing the events on PJ Ramchandani Road, vehicular traffic is expected to be congested between 03:00 PM and 09:00 PM on 02, 03 and 04 December 2016.
The water front opposite the Gateway on India would require to be free of all sailing / ferry boats during this event starting from 10:00 AM 02 December 2016 till 09:00 PM on 04 December 2016. Hence ferry boat services are restricted during this period. The services will be completely closed between 02:00 PM and 09:00 PM on 04 December 2016.
