AS many as 154 trees will be felled and 150 transplanted for the construction on Metro 2A (D N Nagar to Dahisar) corridor.

In a public notice issued in regard to the removal 304 trees, the BMC has asked residents to submit their suggestions and objections by November 8.

The work on 18-km Metro 2A corridor is being carried out by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

An official of BMC gardens department said that trees are to be removed from Oshiwara, Kandivali and Dahisar.

‘There are… 1,223 trees on the site, but only 304 need to be removed… We have invited suggestions and objections.

We will hold a hearing for the people on November 8 and all the suggestions will be included and tabled for final approval,’ said the official.

‘We will also instruct the authorities to ensure that transplanted trees have a good survival rate.’
