GRSE is the pioneer shipyard in the country in construction of Fast Attack Crafts & the shipyard has already delivered 21 ships of this class to the Indian Navy including INS Tillanchang.

The design for these ships has been developed in house by the design centre of GRSE. The hull form of this class of ships is highly efficient with excellent sea keeping characteristics and manoeuvrability. The design of these ships is comparable with similar vessels built abroad. It is cost-effective, fuel-efficient, powerful and well-suited for patrolling, anti-smuggling, anti-poaching and rescue operations carried out by Indian Navy.

These ships are ‘Follow-On’ series of the Ten (10) WJFACs delivered by GRSE to the Indian Navy between 2009 and 2011. These ships are fitted with three Water Jet Propulsion Systems powered by three Marine Diesel Engines each developing 2720 KW. With the Commissioning of ‘INS Tillanchang’, GRSE has once again demonstrated it’s commitment to strengthen the maritime security of the Nation, thereby meeting the aspirations that the country has reposed on this Mini Ratna Shipyard.
