KARUN Nair, the 287th player from India to make his Test debut, scored a triple century at Chennai today in the India vs England fourth test match. A memorable day for the Indians as Karun Nair became only the second India to hit a double century in Tests. He made an unbeaten 303 after his Karnataka team mate KL Rahul had been dismissed for 199 to steer India to a mammoth 759 for seven declared, their highest score in Test cricket.

In reply, England made 12 for no loss in five overs in their second innings. Karun, who started the day on 71, looked in total control as he gradually increased the tempo after completing his century. And his scoring rate took a further leap after he went past his double century as he raced from 200 to 300 from just 75 balls.

England face a testing final day on a wicket playing the odd trick but still good enough for batsmen, but India have the quality in their spin department and they would look to push for victory in the remaining 90 overs on Day 5.
