ON February 28, 2017 ABI (Akela Bureau of Investigation) had published an article under headline, “Today is MODEL night at OPA pub. Enjoy drinks, drugs and Russian girls, Mumbai police is not a problem.” The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai Police has stamped as authentic the news with arrest of five drugs suppliers.

OPA Bar and Café is situated in Peninsula Grand Hotel, Sakinaka junction, Andheri (East). A four-star Hotel, Peninsula Grand (OPA Bar and Café) is owned by Karunakar Shetty and Satish Shetty. Parvat Shetty is liaisoning for the hotel. Rudra Rajparia organises events. Politicians Rajhans Singh and Rahul Shewale are believed to be close with the bar’s owners.

Last month, ABI (abinet.org) published several articles exposing irregularities in Pubs like OPA, PLAYBOY and MATAHARI as well as nexus between local police, BMC and politicians. The ANC officials of Kandivali unit have arrested five youths with Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD), banned under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, last week. One of them Chirag Jain, who studies in Juhu’s Ritambhara College confessed during interrogation about drugs being circulated in five-star hotels including OPA Bar and Café in Peninsula Grand hotel. The accused confessed to supplying drugs on a number of occasions at OPA Bar and Café mainly on Tuesday.

Police revealed that notice under the Criminal Procedure Code has been issued to Peninsula Grand hotel for questioning. Police also have asked the hotel to submit the CCTV footage from its parties.

ABI’s previous articles on OPA Bar and Cafe
On February 14, 2017, “OPA!’ pub does roaring business without a single licence.” The Sakinaka police station replied in RTI query that ‘OPA Bar and Café’ did not have any licences, whether it was public programmme licence, performance licence, fire brigade NOC or entertainment licence IPRS.

On February 19, 2017, “JOKE OF THE DAY: Sakinaka police itself claim OPA pub has no requisite license but do not dare to take action.” In a RTI query Sakinaka police revealed that OPA Bar and Café did not possess a single license but police did not have guts to take action against the bar.

On February 28, 2017, “Today is MODEL night at OPA pub. Enjoy drinks, drugs and Russian girls, Mumbai police is not a problem.” IF today is TUESDAY then it is MODEL night special at OPA Bar and Café. Pay entry fee of Rs 5,000, go inside, enjoy music and dance with cigarettes, liquor, drugs and Russian girls, all this without ever fearing a raid by the Mumbai police.

It is open secret that Karuna, Satish, Parbat are aware about drugs supplying. These persons as well as Avinash Dharmadhikari, Senior Inspector of Sakinaka police station should be booked under banned under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Thanks to ABI for exposing the Hoteliers’ nexus with Police and the Politicians in running a sex and drug racket in Peninsula Grand Hotel at Andheri.

It’s a shame that our public representatives (politicians) and public servants (Polcie) instead of ensuring better implementation of laws are engaged in spreading the sex-drug network and ruining the social fabric of our society.

Stringent action should be taken against these politicians and the Police officers whose blessings have aided these hoteliers in selling sex and drugs at the hotel.

The politicians should be dismissed from their legislature membership and put behind bars.

Thanks.
