A 25-year-old sadhvi was allegedly kidnapped from her ashram in Bihar’s Nawada and gangraped on Monday, police said. A case was registered against four people but no arrests have been made so far and a hunt is on for the accused, they said.

The police officer in charge of the station concerned said the victim, who hails from Basti in UP, had lodged a case after having walked two km from the spot of the alleged incident.

The victim identified two of the four accused as hailing from Chhattisgarh and UP and said they visited her ashram several times, she said.

According to the officer, two women from Basti who were expelled from the ashram over theft allegations in 2017 came to the victim on Monday under the pretext of seeking her help. She then set off with them for Basti in a private vehicle. Midway, the two women got off. The driver then allegedly took the victim to a dilapidated building where she was gangraped.
