THE Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Maharashtra state has initiated an enquiry against the former Senior Inspector of Police Dattatray Palve in Ulhasnagar-1 police station in Thane district. Palve was allegedly, captured on camera while taking a bribe from a woman at her house located in Navi Mumbai. The woman has been accused by her daughter-in-law for harassment and dowry related torture. The bribe was taken to go slow and manage the investigation.
On December 2, 2019 Pooja Navin Ajwani complained to ACB in writing, and provided CCTV footage, based on which Param Bir Singh, Director General, ACB ordered a probe in the matter. Complaint copy and CCTV footage are available with ABI.
According to the complaint, Pooja Ajwani (26) is currently residing in Ulhasngar-1, with her parents as her in-laws have thrown her out from their house at Koparkhairne, Navi Mumbai. On July 25, 2019 Pooja had registered an FIR (No. 298/2019) under sections 498(A), 406, 323, 504, 506 and 34 of IPC against husband Navin Ajwani (32), mother-in-law Beena Ajwani (58), father-in-law Gopal Ajwani (70), brother-in-law Rakesh Ajwani (35) and sister-in-law Sonia Ajwani (32).
On August 24, 2019 around 11am, then Senior Inspector Dattatray Palve went to Beena Ajwani’s house at Ajwani Bungalow, Plot-58, Sector-7, Koparkhairne, Navi Mumbai. Beena Ajwani counted money and put it inside Palve’s pocket. This incident was captured on CCTV camera installed in Beena Ajwani’s house. See video :
Current Senior Inspector SG Jawale also under scanner
Current Senior Inspector of Ulhasnagar-1 police station SG Jawale is also under scanner. Beena Ajwani was chatting with her son Rakesh Ajwani and had claimed that she has also given Rs 25,000 to SG Jawale in two installments-first Rs 15,000 and second Rs 10,000. Beena has given Rs 10,000 to Investigation officer (IO) RS Bhambre and writer Kale Rs 8,000. This conversation has been recorded and is available with Pooja Ajwani. After taking bribe, SG Jawale, Bhambre and Kale were favouring the accused on their level and shielding them from repercussions. Jawale forwarded all documents to Palve. Kale himself created and registered statement of accused and provides all information/updates to Beena Ajwani. All officers ignore and insult Pooja Ajwani and her parents in police station.
Speaking to ABI, an ACB officer has confirmed that investigation has been initiated against Dattatray Palve into the matter.
