THE officials of Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) airport in Kolkata has arrested a middle-aged woman named Aarti Anil Arya for smuggling 2 Kg 535 grams of gold estimated to cost Rs 78,33,150 lakh.  Aarti Arya is active member of Ulhasnagar-based Deepak Suhani gang.

According to Santosh Sharon, Commissioner of Customs of Bidhan Nagar Commissionrate, Aarti Arya had arrived Kolkata from Bangkok by an Indigo fight on Monday night. When she was crossing the green channel, on the basis of suspicion, Customs officials stopped her for baggage check. The search led to recovery of gold biscuits hidden in her bag and Denim jeans shorts.

She was then arrested on charges of smuggling in the gold bars without paying the mandatory Customs duty and gold bars seized under sections 110 of Customs act of 1962. Aarti Arya is resident of Punjabi Colony, Ulhasnagar-3, Thane district.  On August 11, 2017 ABI (abinet.org) has reported that on August 2, 2017 Aarti was under observation by Customs officials at Mumbai airport but she succeeded to fly Bangkok. After that she changed the airport, chosen Kolkata airport but caught.

ABI’s news comes true
On August 11, 2017 ABI (Akela Bureau of Investigation) had published an article under headline,” Ulhasnagar’s gold smuggler Deepak Suhani goes underground after arrest of two punters at Pune airport with Rs 1.3 crore foreign currency.” In said news ABI had published few names of Deepak Suhani gangs’ members. Aarti Arya was one of them. In November 2017 Deepak Suhani’s gang member Kamal Motwani was arrested alongwith Ayushi Jain and Avi Deepak Kachhwani at Mumbai airport for smuggling foreign currency worth Rs 68.64 lakh. In his statement to Customs officials Kamal Motwani accepted that Aarti Arya has appointed him in Deepak Suhani gang.
