ULHASNAGAR based Deepak Suhani gang, infamous and notorious for smuggling of gold and currency has now started committing acts of loot, dacoity and robbery. One of the gang members was caught red handed by Ulhasnagar 1 police, during a botched robbery attempt. Two of his accomplices are reportedly missing.

The person arrested has been identified as Haresh Goswami. He used to work as a salesmen at Rajesh Shankarlal Ramani’s wine shop, located at Vashi. Goswami used to keep a watch and study Ramani’s daily routine and familiarised himself with it. On 15th March 2018, after the shop was shut by Ramani and he proceded towards his residence near Heera Marriage hall at Ulhasnagar 3 around 12.40 in the night. Ramani was accompanied by his other employee Hitesh Ahuja. Hitesh handed a bag containing cash of Rs 1,55,110 to Ramani and proceded to leave. Suddenly at that time Goswami appeared and attempted to pull the bag out of Ramani’s hands and flee. He had covered his face with a handkerchief. When Ramani tried to raise alarm and shout for help, Goswami’s accomplice put dry chilly powder in Ramani’s eyes. Despite this, hearing Ramani’s cries for help, a few people gathered and were able to catch Goswami. He was thrashed by the angry public and later was handed over to the police. The amount of loot was also recovered from him. Goswami and his accomplices were booked under Section 394, 34 of Indian Penal Code and under Arms Act sections 4 and 25, as well as Maharashtra Police Act sections 37(1), 135 by the police and a FIR was registered against him, numbered I-53/2018. Sub Inspector V D Pawar is investigating this matter.

34-year-old Goswami stays at Barrack No 780, room no 38, Section 18, of Ulhasnagar-3. He is one of the main members of Deepak Suhani Gang. ABI (Akela Bureau of Investigation) has reported on suspicious and illicit smuggling activities of this gang many times in the past. In July 2014, Goswami was arrested at Chennai airport while smuggling 690 grams of gold by Officials of Customs Department. This was supposedly his first assignment and Deepak Suhani was angry at him for being caught during his first trip. After that Deepak Suhani handed him the task of recruiting new members of the gang as well as registering false complaints and cases against rivals of Deepak Suhani gang. A Sandeep Davani complained against Hitesh Goswami and a case was registered against Goswami by Ulhasnagar-1 Police Station under sections 325, 341, 427, 504 amd 34 of IPC under CR NO 649/2015.

Chapter case against Deepak Suhani
Anil Satnathi, Ulhasnagar based businessman, complained to the police of constant threats and harrasment by Deepak Suhani. Based on his complaints, Ulhasnagar – 1 Police, on January 6, 2018, initiated procedings under Chapter Case (Number 9/2018) against Deepak Suhani.

Whenever Deepak Suhani is out of city, the activities of his gang are handled by his wife Vineeta Suhani.
