As if being raped by her grandfather at 11, and her cousin soon after that hadn’t left her in deep shock enough, on Wednesday, a 15-year-old was kidnapped by her father’s friend and gang-raped by him and three teenagers for 30 hours. Even the police were shocked with the girl’s ordeals and want her to undergo counseling.

The nightmare
The girl’s nightmare began on the afternoon of July 5, when a 32-year-old friend of her father went to her house and told her family that he was taking her out. They did not object. But when she didn’t return home till evening, her worried parents started to call the man but he was not reachable. They then registered a complaint at Trombay Police station.

On Thursday, around 9.30 pm, the girl arrived home and seeing her condition, her parents immediately took her to Sion Hospital. She told her parents that she was raped by her father’s friend and three other persons in Kanjurmarg. The Trombay cops were informed by the hospital.

“The girl was taken to Kanjurmarg, where this 32-year-old called three boys, each 19 years old. One of the boys said they would take her to his place, where they started raping her one after another. After raping her for almost 30 hours, they left her near Mankhurd. She somehow managed to reach home,” said a police source.

Three arrests
The police have arrested three persons. One of the accused, who works as a make-up assistant in Film City, is absconding. The father’s friend and the other two accused, who are students, have been arrested. All have been booked under IPC sections 376D (gang rape), 363 (Kidnapping), 366A (procuration of minor girl), 506 (2) (Criminal intimidation) and relevant sections of Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Police shocked too
The girl’s previous ordeals were revealed during interrogation. She dropped out of school after them as she was in deep shock. “She was raped by her own grandfather, when she was 11 years old. He was arrested at that time and sent to jail. The next year, her cousin raped her,” said an officer. “Last year she was kidnapped by a person. This is really serious and raises questions about the attempts made to rehabilitate her,” the officer added.

“While questioning the parents and the girl, the repeated offences were revealed, they are really shocking,” said DCP (Zone-6) Shahaji Umap. “She is under treatment and we want to counsel her once she is out of hospital. We want to ensure she is safe and in a secure environment in which she will progress,” added Umap. The police will ask her whether she wants to live with her parents or move to a shelter.
