A tragic mail train accident has taken place on Monday morning in Uttar Pradesh killing around 30 people and injuring more than 100.

According to railway officials Gorakhpur bound Gorakhdham Express going from Haryana’s Hissar via New Delhi hit a stationary goods wagon in Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) Saint Kabir Nagar district. At least 30 passengers were feared killed and 100 were reported injured.

They said six coaches of the train rammed into a stationary goods train standing on the adjoining track at the station. The completely damaged the first bogey of the train. Out of the six coaches, four were general coaches and two were AC coaches— AC first class and AC two tier.

The railway authorities have initiated inquiry and also ordered a compensation of Rs one lakh to the family of those killed and Rs 50,000 for those seriously injured. A sum of Rs 10,000 will be given to those who sustained simple injuries.
