TWO days after the BJP swept the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) elections; the Shiv Sena accused the former of winning the polls with the help of MONEY and MUNI. The Shiv Sena alleged the Jain Muni Nayapadmasagar Ji Maharaj appealed to voters on vegetarianism in the run-up to the polls. His message had gone viral on social networking sites. But this is not new, ABI (Akela Bureau of Investigation) had exposed Nayapadmasagar in 2014 Lok Sabha (LS) election for appealing to Jain community to cast their vote to Congress candidate Milind Deora. But Deora lost the election.

On July 10, 2014 ABI (abinet.org) published article under headline, “Muni Shri Nayapadmasagar Ji Maharaj had gone in Agyatvas after Milind Deora lost Lok Sabha seat.” ABI had mentioned that Nayapadamsagar, famous spiritual guru of the Jain community had gone in Agyatvas for a month when Milind Deora, a Congress candidate from South Mumbai lost his seat in the then Loksabha election.

Several chelas (pupils) of Nayapadamsagar had told ABI that he took ‘supari’ so that Milind Deora could win the Lok Sabha election. Nayapadamsagar had also announced ‘fatwa’ for their community to vote for Milind Deora. Surprisingly, Arvind Sawant, a very weak and unknown face from Shiv Sena party won the election. Feeling shameful Nayapadamsagar went in Agyatvas for a month. There was also another bad luck for Nayapadmasagar for promoting controversial builder and BJP MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha but Lodha also failed to get ticket.

BJP won Mira-Bhayander polls because of MONEY and MUNI: Shiv Sena

Sanjay Raut Member of the Parliament of India representing Maharashtra in the Rajya Sabha from Shiv Sena party at a press conference last week alleged that BJP won in Mira Bhayander Municipal Elections because of MONEY and MUNI. According to Raut Nayapadmasagar ‘s appeal to Mira-Bhayander voters on vegetarianism in the run-up to the polls had gone viral on social networking sites.

Accusing Naypadmasagar of issuing a “fatwa” to Mira-Bhayander voters to extend support to BJP candidates to uphold vegetarianism, Raut said, ‘The monk’s plea goes against tenets of the Constitution and Election Commission guidelines as well.’ The BJP bagged, minus the Sena as its poll partner, 61 seats in the 95-strong Mira Bhayandar Corporation, while the Sena won 22 seats.

Infamous as ‘corporate guru’ in saint community Nayapadmasagar may face police action in future in MONEY scam and also SEXUAL assault cases.
