JAYWANT Mane, the Senior Police Inspector (Sr PI) of the Dindoshi Police Station was arrested by the Mumbai unit of the Anti – Corruption Bureau (ACB) on May 3, 2014 for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000.

On April 30, 2014, the Social Services Branch (SSB) of the Crime Branch conducted a raid under the Dindoshi Police jurisdiction at a gambling (betting) den. In this matter a case was registered (Case no.: 68/ 2014) at the Dindoshi police station under sections 4(A) and 5 of the prevention of gambling act. Jaywant Mane, the senior inspector of Dindoshi police station demanded a bribe of Rs. 2 Lakhs from the complainant for not making any arrests in the matter.

The complainant approached ACB, Mumbai to register a complaint against Mane in the matter. On the basis of the complaint the ACB carried investigation in which it was proved that Mane had agreed on accepting a bribe of Rs. 1.5 Lakhs out of which the first installment of the bribe amount would be Rs. 50,000.

Mane was arrested while accepting the bribe amount of Rs. 50,000 from the complainant. Further investigation is in process.
