SUDHIR Singh, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) vice president, Mumbai and Irfan Baig, a social worker, have urged to end the illegal mining activities in Asalfa area. Advocate Sunil Singh who is also attached with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is involved in several illegal activities as well illegal mining in area.
On December 30, 2014, Sudhir Singh complained (copy available with ABI) to Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demanding action on Sunil Singh. A social worker, Irfan Baig, who is the President of Chandivali Taluka of an NGO has also complained (copy available with ABI) against Sunil Singh.
According to the complaints, Sunil Singh is a resident of Singhwadi, Asalfa, Ghatkopar (west). He is lawyer by profession and is also attached with BJP. Once he contested the BMC elections but lost. He own an illegal shed made for cows and other domestic animals and various chemical factories in residential areas.
Sunil Singh is infamous for illegal construction in the area. Earlier he had constructed more than 100 illegal rooms. He has rented those rooms. He is active since the two years in fresh illegal mining. The L-ward officials in BMC, local councilor and an infamous MLA helps him in these activities.
Singhwadi area in Ghatkopar is considered unsafe because there were many landslide incidents in the nearby area.
“We will look into the matter,” said Prashant Sapkale, Assistant Commissioner, L-ward, BMC.
Despite repeated attempts Sunil Singh was not available for comments as his mobile phone was continuing switched off.
