Air Marshal AP Garud, Air Officer Commanding, Southern Air Command, (extreme left in the picture) arrived on a two day visit to Mumbai on 20 May 2014. He was received at INS Shikra by Air Vice Marshal Anil Golani. During the visit he will review the progress on various operational tasks of Head Quarter Maritime Air Operations, based at Mumbai.

AIR Marshal AP Garud, Air Officer Commanding, Southern Air Command, accompanied by Sulochana Garud, president Air Force Wives Welfare Association (R) Southern Air Command, arrived on a two day visit to Mumbai on 20 May 2014.  During the visit he will review the progress on various operational tasks of Head Quarter Maritime Air Operations (HQ MAO), based at Mumbai. HQMAO is the nodal agency for coordination of all Joint Maritime Air Operations of the Indian Air Force and Navy.  Sulochana Garud will interact with all wives of Air Warriors posted to HQ MAO to see the welfare measures in the station.

According to press note, Air Marshal AP Garud is an alumnus of National Defence Academy and was commissioned into the helicopter stream of IAF on 29 Dec 1976.  The Air Marshal has flown in excess of 6100 hours on various helicopters and training aircraft.  He is Qualified Flying Instructor and has held various command and staff appointments during the course of his illustrious career spanning over 37 years.  He has also served as Inspector General (Air), Border Security Force and Director General Inspection and Flight Safety at Air Headquarters, New Delhi.
