THE Bombay High Court on Friday issued warrant against encounter specialist Pradip Sharma in fake encounter case. However warrant is bailable.

According to court sources, Justice P V Hardas issued the warrant in the sum of Rs 10,000. Justice ordered Sharma to appear before the trial court to get bail.

HC admitted two appeals

The High Court also admitted two appeals challenging the acquittal of Pradip Sharma. One of the appeals has been filed by advocate Ramprasad Gupta, the complainant in the case and whiles the other by the Maharashtra government. Ramprasad Gupta is the deceased man’s brother.

According to the special investigation team (SIT), which probed the case in the direction of the High Court, builder Janardhan Bhanage had hired Sharma and Pradeep Suryavanshi, another police officer, to kill Ramnarayan Gupta alias Lakhan Bhaiya who was allegedly a member of Chhota Rajan gang. Sharma and several police officers killed Lakhan Bhaiyya in a fake encounter in November 2006.

During the trial the sessions court acquitted Pradip Sharma last July for lack of evidence but convicted 21 others including 13 police officials and sentenced them to life imprisonment for murder.
