THE Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Incharge Executive Engineer; an Assistant Engineer and a Junior Engineer, all of PWD, Nani Daman for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. Four Lakhs from the complainant.

According to CBI Spokesperson a case under sections 7 of PC Act was registered against a Junior Engineer and an Assistant Engineer, both working at PWD, Nani Daman on the allegations that the accused persons demanded a bribe of 6% of total amount credited in the firm of Complainant. The Complainant’s firm was awarded a contract for construction of underground water treatment plant at Nani Daman.

CBI laid trap and arrested Incharge Executive Engineer; Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer, all of PWD Nani Daman for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.Four lakhs from the Complainant. Searches at the residential and office premises of the accused have been conducted.

In another case, CBI has arrested a Police Inspector (SHO of Police Station Sector 34) along with one Head Constable and one Constable, all of Chandigarh Police for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 from the Complainant.

A case was registered on the basis of a complaint of the Contractor under section 7 of PC Act, 1988 alleging that the accused had demanded the bribe in lieu of not harassing the parking Contractor and allowing him to run his business within the jurisdiction of the Police Station Sector 34, Chandigarh. CBI laid a trap and the Constable was arrested while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000/- from the Complainant on behalf of SHO (Police Inspector). The Head Constable accompanying the said Constable and the said Police Inspector (SHO) were also arrested.

Searches were carried out at the residential premises of all the three accused. The arrested accused are being produced before the Designated Court.
