THE Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered FIR against 10 then police personnel of Wadala Railway Police Station, Mumbai (Maharashtra) and other unknown persons under sections  119, 166, 166(a), 193, 199, 200, 201,202, 203, 217, 220, 295(a), 302, 324, 331, 342, 347, 348, 367, 377, 506, 107, 114, 120-B and 34 of IPC r/w. sections 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 18 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 r/w. sections 23 of Juvenile Justice (Care) and Protection of Children) Act, 2000 r/w. sections 29 of Police Act on the orders of Bombay High Court.

According to CBI spokesperson, the court directed CBI to start a fresh investigation into the matter relating to the alleged custodial death and sexual abuse of complainant Leonard Valdaris’s son Agnelo (24) on April 18, 2014.

The court further directed CBI to record the statements of complainant as well as the witnesses afresh and register a case. The case was earlier registered by the State CID.

According to petitioner Leonard Valdaris, three boys including a minor were picked upfor allegedly stealing a gold chain and ring by the Wadala GRP police on the intervening night of April 15 and 16, along with his son Agnelo (24). Agnelo was allegedly tortured and killed in police custody.

Eight policemen – Senior Police Inspector J K Rathore, Sub-Inspectors Archana Pujari, Shatrughan Thondse, Head Constable Suresh Mane and four other constables, Ravindra Mane, Vikas Suryavanshi, Satyajit Kamble and Akeel Jamal – had been transferred to places outside Mumbai.
