A Christian couple were beaten and later burned alive in bricks kiln in Pakistan for allegedly desecrating pages of Holy Quran. The local government has constituted a three-member committee to fast track the investigation of the killings.
According to media reports, the incident took place on Tuesday at the town of Kot Radha Kishan, some 60 kilometres (40 miles) southwest of the city of Lahore, Pakistan. The deceased couple were labour at bricks kiln. They identified as Shahbaz Maseeh, (26) and his wife Shama Bibi (24).
It was discovered that couple allegedly had set fire to several verses of the Quran. They had planned to flee their town with their three young children. But mob attacked on them. More than 35 people were believed to be involved in the attack. They broke their legs so they couldn’t run and then threw them in the fire. Only some bones and hair were found at the site.
The government has ordered police to beef up security at Christian neighborhoods in the province.
