A fire broke out on the fifth floor of the administrative building of Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) station on Friday afternoon. According to reports, the fire brought under control and no casualties have been reported.
According to railway spokesperson the incident occurred around 5.15 pm. The fire is said to have started in the Container Corporation Office and railway officials said prima facie it looks like a short-circuit. The exact cause of the fire is not yet known.
The building houses several important railway offices including that of construction, commercial, materials management and public sector firms controlled by the railway ministry.
Traffic jams were reported in South Mumbai due to fire.
