IN a very good initiative, the Bihar government has given employment to five women who were allegedly gang raped by three men. One of the accused is a former commander of Ranveer Sena.

According to media reports, on October 8, 2014, six women were allegedly gang-raped in the district’s Kurmuri village. One of them victim is minor. All the three main accused in the case were arrested. Victims alleged that they were gang raped at gun-point by three men in the state’s Bhojpur district. A medical examination has confirmed that the women were raped by a gang.

District magistrate Pankaj Kumar Pal told media that he has handed over appointment letters to the women. He also justified that it is a part of the state government’s initiative to help victims in view of Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s order to provide them safety, security and better livelihood.

One of the victims, a minor, was admitted to a residential school for her rehabilitation and she would receive financial assistance for her livelihood.

During investigation police found all three arrested accused, including main accused Neel Nidhi Singh, guilty of the crime. Neel Nidhi Singh is a former commander of Ranveer Sena, private militia of landed upper castes.
