A 35-year-old man has been arrested by Marine Drive police for allegedly molesting a 21-year old girl in Inox Theater at Nariman point. The accused is closed friend of girl’s father.
The accused identified as Prakash Pagare. He is a resident of Naigaon, Parel. The girl is resident of Kandivali (East). She is preparing her exam for National Eligibility Test (NET) and State Eligibility Test (SET).
According to police girl’s father is a laborer in Armed Military Medical Logistics Depot, Kandivali. Accused Pagare is attached with credit societies and provides personal loans. For this purpose girl’s father came in touch with him last year. Since then Pagare started visiting at her home frequently.
Pagare promised in January that he will arrange education loan for her (NET/SET exam) from a trust. Pagare asked her to meet him in Santacruz. The girl met him but Pagare failed to arrange education loan.
On March, 14 Pagare introduced a man at Matunga. He claims that man belongs to a trust and could manage the education loan.
On April 8 Pagare asked girl to come at Churchgate for signing on loan form. He promised that after that she would get loan Cheque. The girl rushed to Churchgate and met to him. Pagare told her that the trust’s employee is two hours late. He insisted her that for time pass let to watch movie in the theatre. Helpless girl accompanied with her. During watching the movie at Inox he touched her inappropriately twice. The girl opposed his activities and shouted on him.
She narrated entire story to her family. Her father registered an FIR against Pagare at Samata Nagar police station. On Wednesday matter was transferred from Samata Nagar to Marine Drive police station as crime took place in their jurisdiction.
”We have arrested Pagare under charges of molestation,” said a top cop.
